This is one of our classic itineraries. You can enjoy most of Tibet amazing culture and scenery within four days. The cultural highlights of this tour include grand Potala Palace—landmark of Lhasa, Jokhang—the holiest monastery in Tibet. In addition, you will also pay a visit to Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa and transfer to the hotel
Highlights: spectacular scenery and typical Tibetan villages along the way
Welcome to the “Roof of the World.” On your arrival to Tibet, You will be greeted by Tibetan English speaking guide in a traditional Tibetan way. Then drive to the city and transfer to the hotel. You can have a good rest for the rest of the day so that you can adjust to the altitude. Remember to drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep for the journey ahead

Day 2: Potala Palace/Jokhang Monastery/Barkhor Street

This morning you’ll wind your way up through the stunning, awe-inspiring Potala Palace. Built in 637 AD by Songtsen Gampo, it was the former winter residence for the Dalai Lamas and is truly a splendor of Eastern architecture. The cardinal landmark of Lhasa, Potala Palace, is a structure of massive portions. Its towering image already appearing on various occasions, but your first sight of the Potala will still be an awe-inspiring moment. Potala Palace is a place where you can appreciate the Tibetan culture, religion and art of architecture as well.

Next, visit the Jokhang Monastery, the center of Tibetan Buddhism, also built in the 7th century on the legendary pond of “Wothang.”Jokhang Temple is the spiritual center of Tibet. Every day, pilgrims from every corner of Tibet trek a long distance to the temple to pray for their now and future. The temple is the product of Han, Tibetan and Nepalese architectural techniques. 

Finish the day by walking around the Barkhor Street, the oldest street in a very traditional city in Tibet, where you can buy the local products such as hand-made carpet, Tibetan medicine and so on. Test your bartering skills with the locals in this push-and-shove economy. Here you could see some very religious people prostrating countless on the ground.

Day 3: Lhasa/ Namtso Sacred Lake/Lhasa
Today we will visit Namtso Sacred Lake, The highest point in Lhasa prefecture with around 4718 meters altitude. Being the second largest saltwater lake in China only after Qinghai Lake, Namtso Lake is the biggest lake throughout Tibet. Meanwhile, it is the highest altitude saltwater lake in the world. The water here is a storybook crystal-clear blue. Clear skies join the surface of the lake in the distance, creating an integrated, scenic vista. You will spend one more day to visit it. The beautiful landscape of grassland flocks of yaks, sheep and goats, and snow capped mountains, and the hot spring on the half way.

Day 4 Leave Lhasa
Today, we will transfer you to the airport/railway station. Say bye-bye to Tibet.
